Carlos Canales Anchorena -

President, National Chamber of Tourism of Peru - CANATUR

Degree in Law and Political Science from the San Martín de Porres University, with a Master's Degree in Development and National Defense (2008) and a Master's Degree in National Defense (2010), at the Centro de Altos Estudios Nacionales - CAEN. In Tourism, he has a Master's Degree in Strategic Management in Tourism and Hospitality taught at the Alcalá de Henares University, Spain (1994) and a Specialization for Senior Management in Tourism Sector Administration - PADE, Universidad del Pacífico (1995). Likewise, he has a Post-Degree in Marketing Management from the Escuela Organizacional Industrial, in Spain (1996)

In his institutional and union participation, he has been elected five times as President of the National Chamber of Tourism of Peru - CANATUR, currently serving that position for the 2018 - 2020 Period. Previously, he was President in the periods 2002 - 2004/2004 - 2006/2010 - 2012 / 2012-2014. He is currently Vice President of the FEDERACION DE CAMARAS DE TURISMO DE SUDAMERICA FEDESUD for the 2018-2020 period. He was also elected Alternate President of the Tourism Business Council of South America - CETUR, period 2012-2016. He was President of the Bureau of Conventions and Visitors of Lima, for four periods, between 2011 and 2017. Member of the Board of Directors of the Latin American Association of Convention and Visitors Bureau. He is currently a member of the Board of Directors of PROMPERÚ, since 2018 and was previously a member of it between 2002 and 2004.

He has been a member of the Board of Directors of CONFIEP (Period 2002 - 2010) and former President of the Civic Committee of Support for the Tourism and Ecology Police - PNP, currently being the Vice President of said Civic Committee. He has been a Member of the Advisory Councils of various universities, such as the Advisory Committee of the Faculty of Business Administration of the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos; Member of the Advisory Committee of the Faculty of Administration of Services of the Universidad de Piura and Member of the Advisory Committee of CENTRUM, Business School of the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Peru.

At the municipal level, he was elected Regidor of the Metropolitan Municipality of Lima, being in charge of the Presidency of the Urban Transport Commission and the Tourism and SMEs Commission during the period 2015-2018. In the business field, he has been in charge of important consultancies and binational projects for IDB, WB, among others, highlighting the mentoring given to CEPLÁN, MINISTRY OF PRODUCTION, CONCYTEC, COFOPRI, as well as product design and internal tourism marketing for VISANET DEL PERU. Similarly, he executed the DEVIDA-PRODAPP-UNION EUROPEA project for the design and development of the Central Jungle Circuit. Among other business functions, he is Director of Tudor Travel & Tourism, Andean Travelers, Casa Cartagena and Data Express.

In his long experience in Tourism, he has managed to consolidate this sector, through important growth and development initiatives and strategies that have allowed the strengthening and unification of private tourism institutions for the benefit of the sector, business and population. Likewise, the mentoring provided has set an important guideline for the growth and development of state companies and institutions. Also in July 2017 he was recognized within the International Prize THE 15 MOST INFLUENTIAL PERSONALITIES IN THE AMERICAS OF THE MEETING INDUSTRY within the WORLD MEETING FORUM 2017 in Mexico City, in the Seventh edition of the LATIN AMERICAN FIEXPO -04 of June 2014, he was awarded the distinguished award of PERSONALITY OF THE MEETING INDUSTRY IN LATIN AMERICA AND THE CARIBBEAN, for his outstanding work for the development and positioning of the city of Lima as an event destination. He was also awarded a GRAND ORDER OF TOURISM by the San Martin de Porres University and as HONORARY PROFESSOR of the PRIVATE UNIVERSITY OF CHICLAYO.
