Javier Pimienta - CEO, San Francisco Investments

Javier is CEO of San Francisco Investments, a single purpose entity dedicated to the development of a luxury mixed-use development in Cartagena, Colombia; consisting of a 132-room Four Season Hotel and 16 Four Seasons Residences.

Previously, Javier was the CEO of Terranum Hotels, a fully-integrated hotel development and investment platform with capabilities ranging from deal sourcing and underwriting to project and asset management.

Through both development and acquisitions, Terranum Hotels became a relevant player in Colombia and Latin America with an operating portfolio of six branded select and full-service hotels under brands such as W Hotels, Aloft by Starwood, Courtyard by Marriott and Residence Inn by Marriott before merging with Hoteles Decameron a leading Owner/Operator in the Latin-American all-inclusive space.

Javier held the position of Project and Business Development Vice-president for Lionstone Development LLC, a Miami-based hotel development company with projects and operations in Florida, the Caribbean and Europe.

During Javier’s tenure of more than 8 years with Lionstone, he was responsible for hotel and mixed-use projects in Florida, Costa Rica, and the Caribbean; all affiliated to world-class brands such as: Ritz-Carlton, St. Regis, The Luxury Collection, Marriott, among others. Javier started his career in the hospitality space in 2001 as Principal for Radar Funds LLP, a Lionstone-sponsored Private Equity Fund focused in the acquisition and re-development of distressed hotels throughout the Caribbean in the aftermath of 9/11. The Fund’s mandate was later assumed by Liosntone Development and Javier joined its team. Previously, he was Vice President of Corporate Development for Patagon Bank, and online banking institution, where he was instrumental in the company’s swift expansion process throughout Latin America that led to the company’s later sale to Spain’s Banco Santander in early 2001.

Javier was also a management consultant at McKinsey & Co. in Miami and with Remolina Estrada in Bogota. He holds a BSc in Civil Engineering from Universidad de los Andes and an MBA from University of Miami.
