Setting the course: Challenges and Opportunities in Latin America and the Caribbean
by Arturo Garcia Rosa - President & CEO, SAHIC
There are moments when the market moves beyond simply looking at numbers and begins to reflect on objectives, focus, and the need to reassess strategies—particularly when change is not only as fast-paced as we have grown accustomed to in recent years, but also unexpectedly disruptive.
The start of 2026 has shaken us in a very particular way and will undoubtedly have an impact on our business. In my view, this impact will be positive; the real challenge will be our ability to adapt to what lies ahead.
Latin America and the Caribbean are undergoing a very profound transformation that, in many respects, appears to mark the beginning of a new cycle. Tourism, hospitality, and real estate development no longer move along parallel paths; today, they converge within a single value ecosystem that is increasingly integrated, sophisticated, and strategic. In this context, models such as branded residences reflect this evolution by proposing a development logic that connects investment, experience, destination, and community.
Over the course of these five decades accompanying the evolution of the hospitality industry, I have seen clearly that the most virtuous cycles are not defined by growth, but by long-term vision, responsibility, and the ability to adapt to what is ahead.
True impact lies in creating sustainable projects and destinations that transcend generations and leave a lasting legacy—social, economic, and urban.
At SAHIC, we believe in dialogue between capital and purpose, between brands and territories, and between governments and investors. We believe that the future of hospitality in Latin America and the Caribbean will be built by those who know how to intelligently integrate development, sustainability, planning, and positive impact.
This conversation will be part of the next edition of the forum—an opportunity to think ahead, provoke reflection, identify opportunities, and design the next chapters of our industry, anticipating not only what can already be clearly foreseen, but especially what is not yet evident and will soon become reality.
For this reason, I would like to extend a personal invitation: I look forward to welcoming you to Rio de Janeiro for the 20th edition of SAHIC, which will undoubtedly be historic.
Together, with the broader community that has made SAHIC such a powerful platform, we will continue to build the future of an industry that will keep transforming the way we live.
