Hospitality of the future: experiences, technology, and the reinvention of luxury
By Paulo Mancio, Executive Director of Hospitality at CBRE Brazil
Welcome to this brief journey through the present and future of hospitality! In this article, I explore how modern hospitality is evolving to offer increasingly authentic, technological, and personalized experiences. Discover how the industry is adapting to new demands and transforming the way we travel and create unforgettable moments.
In an increasingly dynamic world, where time is one of the most valuable assets, the way we travel, and stay is constantly changing. Across the globe, hospitality encompasses two essential components: the first is linked to the modern lifestyle, where intense work demands moments of rest and renewal. Today, travel is not just about moving from one place to another; it has become an extension of people’s lives, allowing them to explore new horizons, cultures, and experiences. This new landscape makes hospitality much more than just accommodation; it becomes an integral part of well-being and the overall life experience of each traveler.
With this shift in behavior, new hospitality tools are emerging, and we see clear examples in urban resorts and hotels that offer unique experiences—where work and leisure often blend, and business trips become opportunities for incredible new experiences. Events, conventions, and conferences are no longer limited to technical content but now aim to engage participants with special moments. Additionally, technology plays a fundamental role in this new world of hospitality, ensuring that the entire guest journey—from planning to stay—is seamless, efficient, and frustration-free. The smart use of technology enables personalization and comfort, fostering deeper connections between guests and destinations.
Another crucial aspect is the evolution of lodging models. The hospitality of the future cannot be standardized or impersonal; on the contrary, it must reflect the essence of the location and offer distinct value propositions. This is why boutique hotels and luxury inns are gaining increasing prominence, delivering highly personalized services and authentic experiences. Travelers seek more than just a comfortable bed; they want to immerse themselves in the culture, gastronomy, and identity of each destination. International luxury is reinventing itself by embracing local roots, ensuring that every stay is unique and unforgettable.
It is evident that entertainment is becoming a fundamental pillar of modern hospitality. Multipurpose stadiums, casinos, and leisure complexes are examples of how the industry is expanding beyond traditional lodging. In this sense, throughout Latin America—particularly in Brazil—the professionalization of soccer clubs is transforming them into multipurpose complexes, much like what happened in several European regions in recent years. Meanwhile, the regulation of casinos presents new challenges for tourism and hospitality. The future of hospitality will increasingly focus on personalized experiences, where luxury lies in authenticity, emotional connection, and the creation of unforgettable memories for every guest.
