Joel Sanchez Briseño

Joel Sánchez Briseño has been a strong advocate for sustainable construction and green finance in Latin America for over a decade. He currently serves as Lead for Tourism, Retail, and Property in IFC’s Upstream (preinvestment) team for Latin America, where he works to help establish the conditions needed for projects to be commercially viable and attract private investment across the region. Previously, he led IFC’s Green Buildings Program for Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean, driving the expansion of the EDGE certification, partnering with financial institutions to scale climate finance, and advising local governments on the design of incentive programs for sustainable construction. Before joining IFC, Joel led the Green Mortgage Program at INFONAVIT, promoting higher energyefficiency standards in the housing sector. He also served as Public Policy Manager for the Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (JPAL) in Mexico and Central America. Joel holds a Master of Public Administration from Columbia University and a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Economics from ITAM.
