José Koechlin established Inkaterra in 1975, pioneering ecotourism and sustainable development in Peru. Recipient of five Michelin Keys, winner of Travel + Leisure’s 2020 Global Vision Award and acknowledged by the United Nations as the first-ever Climate Positive hotel brand, Inkaterra celebrates Peruvian nature and culture by producing scientific research as the basis for biodiversity conservation and the wellbeing of local communities.

 Appointed Chairman of the National Chamber of Tourism (CANATUR), José Koechlin is emeritus board member of Conservation International (Washington D.C.). Distinctions include the 2015 PURE Award in the ‘Contribution to Experiential Travel’ category, and the SAHIC ‘Best Developer’ Awards in 2010 and 2013.
