Alex Fiz

Alex currently serves as Area Vice President for the Caribbean and Managing Director All-Inclusive, an expanded new role which he assumed back in August 2020. Alex oversees a growing portfolio of hotels in key markets and segments and is responsible for all Managed by Marriott full-service, luxury and premium hotels in the Caribbean. For All-Inclusive, his scope of responsibility extends to the entire region and encompasses franchise hotels as well.

In October 2019, Alex was promoted to Vice President & Managing Director, All-Inclusive for Marriott International, a role he has held since following Marriott’s formal announcement in August when the company launched its All-Inclusive platform. In this position, Alex is responsible for All-Inclusive business unit performance and segment growth within the Caribbean and Latin America and he also leads platform development for the segment across the organization, working alongside Regional Discipline leaders as well as Development, Global Design, and Brand teams.

Prior to this role, Alex served as Regional Vice President of Sales & Distribution for the Caribbean and Latin America (CALA) region. In this role, Alex was responsible for all Sales & Marketing Disciplines for a region with 250+ hotels in 33 countries and territories, with an impressive pipeline of hotels set to open in the next few years, including more than 40 in the luxury space.

Alex is a true hospitality professional with  30 years of experience with Marriott, holding a number of leadership roles, each with increasing responsibility, across a variety of disciplines around the globe. He began his career in 1992 at the Plaza Hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina where he held positions as Assistant Director of Operations, Director of Revenue Management & Reservations, Director of Catering and Director of Sales & Marketing.

Alex then became Country Director of Sales and Marketing for Chile and Argentina (1998-2002). From 2002 to 2006, Alex led the Brazil hotels, Renaissance Sao Paulo, JW Marriott Rio de Janeiro, Marriott and Renaissance Costa do Sauipe, MEA Sao Paulo and Sao Paulo Airport Marriott as Area Director of Sales & Marketing and successfully implemented the Market Sales Organization in Brazil.

In 2006, Alex relocated to Europe where he accepted the position of Market Director of Sales & Marketing for France. He later became the Area Director of Sales & Marketing for Western Europe, overlooking 9 countries, 38 hotels.

In 2008, Alex accepted his first General Manager position at the Renaissance Paris Arc de Triomphe Hotel which received Best Hotel of the Year 2011 Award for the Renaissance brand.

Alex is passionate about training and associate development Alex has been a speaker at Industry forums in Latin America and Europe.

Alex holds an MBA from the Universidad Palermo, a Bachelor’s in Public Relations and International Affairs from the Universidad de la Empresa, Buenos Aires, along with several professional development programs from Cornell University. 

Alex is fluent in English, French, Portuguese and Spanish.
